Life Updates!

If I could pick one word to describe this week that word would be, ugh. This was my first official week of working as a full time certificated sub. It was challenging. I worked three days this week and had two days off. It was busy. I had Freshman on Monday, Sophomores on Tuesday, and then Juniors today. That was not planned at all by the way but it was kind of funny how that all worked out. I’m hoping to be subbing for my kids I had during student teaching next week and I have other jobs for the week after next. Luckily it seems I’m able to keep pretty busy in terms of work which is good. It’s a little hard adjusting to getting up at 5:45am when I haven’t been doing it for so long. My sleep schedule will readjust eventually. Hopefully.

For the most part the kids I’ve been subbing for have been pretty good. They’ve been pretty well behaved and they all seemed to be able to follow directions well. This makes it easy to sub because it means I get to have fun with the kids instead of fighting them all day to get them to work. It makes it nice because I really do like getting to know the kids and joking around with them. It makes the day go faster.

Other than working I haven’t been up to much. I have tickets to Lazer Team now. The Yelm screening was confirmed so I am officially going to Lazer Team on the 28th. I’m excited to see the movie and hopefully meet some other Rooster Teeth fans from my area. I’m hoping to meet people from the community so I’m really excited to go. I haven’t really been up to much else though. I’m supposed to get paid today so I’m waiting for that go through so I can buy some new phone cases. I dropped my phone on the floor of Value Village the other day and actually chipped it so I definitely need to get a new phone case.

I’m sorry this was such a boring life updates but I haven’t been up to much lately. Hopefully I’ll do something cool or interesting this weekend so I can tell you about it next week.

Until next time have a wonderful weekend and, as always, stay classy internet people.

Life Updates!

Sorry this wasn’t uploaded on Friday but I was busy.

I have been very busy for quite sometime since I last wrote. I am now officially a certified teacher. I am not in an sort of permanent work situation right now but I’m subbing for one school district right now and I’ll probably end up subbing for other school districts eventually. I have my first job for a teacher who wasn’t my cooperating teacher for student teaching on Tuesday so I’m looking forward to that. It should be exciting. I got my certificate in the mail today and put it in a frame. I’ll have to change it out once I find a full time position and get my professional certificate but hey for now it’s in a frame. Teaching is complicated. There are so many different certificates and hoops to jump through It’s insane.

Friday I was at the beach with my dad. We went clam digging down on the coast. We got there about an hour before tide and we only ended up digging for about twenty minutes because there were so many clams that it was easy to find them. It was probably one of the fastest digs we’ve ever done. It was beautiful down at the beach. It’s been pretty cold here at home but it was about fifty degrees at the beach which was wonderful after being in the cold for so long. I wanted to stay but alas, I could not.

Today my mother and I went shopping. I got two new records for my record player. I bought Jack White’s Lazaretto which has a bunch of cool and crazy features to it. I also got the new Walk The Moon album called Talking Is Hard which is pretty good as well. I also got a new graphic novel.

In other news I have tickets to Lazer Team now. I am so excited to see this movie. If you don’t know, Lazer Team is a full length film by the people at Rooster Teeth. Rooster Teeth is a company that does YouTube videos as well as a whole lot of other things. You may be familiar with RWBY, Achievement Hunter, or Red VS Blue which are all things made my Rooster Teeth. I am really excited to see this movie and I didn’t think I was going to get to see it in theaters. They are conducting the showings through a service that lets people or businesses set up their own screenings and once enough people reserve tickets the screening can happen. All the ones close to me were in Seattle which is about a 2 hour drive but now there is one about 15 min from my house. I reserved my ticket today.

By the way the Yelm Cinemas screening needs 9 more people as of today to make it happen. So if you live nearby and want to see Lazer Team get a ticket here so we can all go see it together.

That’s what I’ve been up to lately. Until next time get a ticket to Lazer Team and, as always, stay classy internet people.

Let’s Review

Hello everyone! I should be back to my normal schedule on Monday so look forward to that. I’ve just been busy with the holidays and everything else but now that things are slowing down I should be able to get back into the swing of things so to speak.

Anyway, seeing as it is the first of the new year I figured we’d review 2015 and all the things that happened in it.

I have less blog posts to look back on this year as I seemed to have dropped the ball on blogging. In January I started my music blog which is still going strong even though it only has about 8 followers but still it’s fun and I love writing it. I also got my car hit while I was on my university’s campus. That was a long and not so fun adventure. I also did my first practicum experience where I was actually teaching and working with kids instead of just observing. That was fun even though it was with middle school kids but they were great so it made it fun.

That winter quarter I took 20 credits and it was one of the worst quarters of my life. It was incredibly stressful but I had some awesome friends who were able to help me pull through it. I was quite stressed but I was able to get through it and move on in my university life and my teaching career.

Spring quarter was easier but sadder in a way since it was my last quarter at university. My friends and I were trying to squeeze in as much time with each other as we could before we’d all be separated. It was exciting too because I was finally getting to the end of my university career. I was going to move on to student teaching in the fall and I was looking forward to it. All in all spring quarter was really fun even if it was going to be my last quarter at CWU.

The summer of 2015 was an amazing summer for me. I had the opportunity to go to a lot of things and do a lot of things that I didn’t think I’d ever have the chance to. I took my little cousin to a Fall Out Boy concert which was really fun. I also went to a free MSMR show with my best friend in Seattle. I also went to Summer Camp again and got the chance to meet my favorite dj from 107.7 The End and meet the lead singer of Saint Motel who signed my hat. It was a really amazing summer and it was definitely great to get a lot of fun in before I had to start student teaching.

This fall was filled with all things student teaching and edTPA related. I had the opportunity to work some great kids for my student teaching which made it a whole lot easier to teach them and work with them through this process. I managed to survive and submit my edTPA in the end. I found out yesterday that I passed!!!! Now I’m just waiting to start my process of getting my certificate. I’m excited.

The holidays were good this year as well. My grandmother bought me a record player which is amazing. I own three records now and I absolutely love it. I also received a gaming chair to go along with my xbox. I did actually manage to finish a game the other day so that was exciting as well. Bioshock by the way, in case you were wondering.

So there you have it. 2015 summarized in a few sentences. Even though there were some not so great things that happened in 2015 it was still a pretty amazing year. A lot of things happened that I never thought would happen. Here’s to 2016 being just as amazing.

Thank you for joining me in 2015 and I hope you all can join me in 2016. I really appreciate you all being here and reading these things I take the time to write. Anyway, until next time remember that you’re all amazing and, as always, stay classy internet people.

Life Updates!

Hello there everyone! Everything seems to be a day late on this blog this week. My life has been a little hectic lately so that might explain it.

On Tuesday our power went out. There was a big windstorm and a transformer blew somewhere down the road from us. I guess the power went out right before I got home from work and it stayed out until about 9 am on Wednesday. Usually we don’t get power back that fast since we kind of live out in the sticks so I was impressed.

My parents were putting laminate flooring in their bedroom this week so I tore out carpet pretty much all last weekend and this weekend we put in floors. It’s pretty much all done now. The bedroom itself has new floors in it and the trim pieces all put up. Now we have to put the same floor and trim in the closet. My mother and I have to clean out the closet so my dad can put the floor in when he comes home from work.

Last night we went and saw the new James Bone movie Specter it was pretty good. It wasn’t the best movie I have ever seen and I don’t think it was as good as the last James Bond movie but I didn’t hate it. Also it had Ben Whishaw in it and I love him so that helped. It also had Andrew Scott in it so that helped as well.

I have spent a good portion of my day today grading projects. My AP seniors had to do artistic projects about themes in Crime and Punishment which they finished reading last week. I had to take the rest of them home to grade. Overall they did pretty well. Most of them seemed to like the projects which I think made them take more time with them. My last day of student teaching is Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I’m simultaneously looking forward to it and not. I am excited to start this next part of my life but I am really going to miss my kids. I am going to sub for that classroom in December though so I will get to see them again. That will be fun.

So there you have it. That’s pretty much what I have been up to for the past week. I’ve been keeping myself busy. Hopefully next week I’ll be able to stay on track with my blogging schedule. It doesn’t seem like we will be having any windstorms any time soon so I should have power.

Anyway, until next time go do something fun and, as always, stay classy internet people.

Life Updates

I know I said I was going to post these on Thursday but I was busy. And I’m thinking of changing these posts to Friday anyway. I just feel like it’s kind of weird to update you on my life when a full week hasn’t passed. Yeah, so these might go up on Friday starting soon. Anyway, moving on.

I am really looking forward to the end of my student teaching. I love my kids but I don’t exactly get along very well with my mentor teacher so that kind of makes it hard to go to work every day. Other than that though I really love student teaching. I am looking forward to subbing and working in a classroom by myself. I just want to be able to make my own decisions. Soon. I’ll get my bachelors degree officially in about December and then I should be able to start subbing full time. Right now I just have my intern sub certification so I can only sub for one teacher at the school I am currently in.

In other news, that guy who I was supposed to hang out with never responded to me so I guess that’s not going to happen. Oh well. Whatever. Moving on.

Let’s see, other news, well my parents have decided that they need to put wood flooring in their bedroom so my mother and I have been tearing up the carpet in there for a few days. Apparently that’s what we are doing tomorrow as well. Even though I probably should be grading papers or working on my edTPA commentary. I still haven’t finished that by the way. It’s a lot of writing and I just haven’t had the time I need to work on it. My hope is to get it all in my December 10th so hopefully I can get some time to get it done. I should have more time once I am no longer student teaching. Even if I’m subbing I get to choose the days I work to a certain extent so that should give me more time.

I just have a lot to work on and get done in the coming times. Hopefully I can finish it all. I’ve just got a lot going on with student teaching and everything else. Sorry this life updates was a little bit boring. I’m just busy with work and stuff and that’s all I’ve really been doing. Not much time for anything else.

Oh well. Until next time have a wonderful day wherever you are and, as always, stay classy internet people.

Life Updates!

Hello everyone! I haven’t quite figured out the rest of my blogging schedule yet but I can tell you that I am going to do a life updates post every Thursday. Well I’m going to try to anyway. We’ll see how it goes. Eventually I will come up with a full schedule of what sort of posts are going to go up when. I will tell you that schedule once I actually write it.

Anyway, life updates. Let’s see, it’s been so long since I’ve talked to you, there’s a lot to update you on. I teach now. Which you should know based off of my last post. I’m student teaching and I am almost done. I have about 3 weeks left of student teaching and I cannot believe it went by so fast. I feel like I just got here. I have started my edTPA, which if you don’t know stands for Education Teacher Performance Assessment, which is the last step before I am fully certified. I basically have to videotape a bunch of lessons, write lesson plans, and write a whole lot of commentary and submit it to be assessed. Then someone will determine if I am ready to be certified. I have to pay like $300 to submit it which I personally think is a bit ridiculous but I don’t make the rules. I have this huge handbook that I had to print out that tells me all the things I have to do for it. So I’ve got that going on. My original goal was to have it all finished and submitted by the end of my student teaching but that won’t be happening.

I also have my intern substitute certification so I can sub for my cooperating teacher. That means I will actually get paid to be here which will be nice. So far I am only subbing for her on one day in December but hopefully I’ll pick up a few more days. Of course once I finish the edTPA and become fully certified I can apply to be a regular sub with the district and sub all over the place.

If you were interested in my life not related to my schooling or career this is the paragraph for you. A while ago my cousin attempted to set me up with some guy she knows. If you know my cousin you would understand why this was a bad thing. Most of her friends aren’t exactly the greatest people. Anyway, I kind of ignored it for a while but then he added me of Facebook and started talking to me. He doesn’t seem completely horrible, as previously thought, although we haven’t really discussed anything of substance yet. Anyway, he wants to hang out sometime next week which I said yes to. Hopefully he doesn’t end up being terrible and I won’t want to leave as soon as I meet him. For the record I have already met him in person like once for ten minutes. I didn’t talk to him then. That’s a whole other story that I might tell at some point but not now.

That about hits all the major events in my life since I last wrote. I don’t really do much with my friends now that I am fully out of college and no longer living in Ellensburg. I keep in touch with most of my friends from college via text message or social media. Since we all live so far away from each other it makes it hard to actually get together and do anything. Plus I’m teaching, one of my other friends is teaching, one is still in Ellensburg, and one has an internship so we all are pretty busy. My friends from home are all still in college so they’re all off in school so I don’t see them much either. We keep in touch. Hopefully with holidays and breaks coming up we’ll be able to get together. That’s the hope anyway.

Alright well there ya have it. The major events in my life for this week. Like I said I am going to try and post a life updates post every Thursday. I’ll get the rest of the schedule to you when I make it up. Until next time have a wonderful day wherever you are and, as always, stay classy internet people.
